Between Dumfries and Castle Douglas, the Old Mill is a few miles from, and easily accessible via, the A75. Drive times are approximately 2 hours from Glasgow, 2.5 hours from Edinburgh, and 1.5 hours from Carlisle.

Nearest Train Stations

The nearest main train station is Dumfries (approx. 20 minutes by car). Onwards travel is best arranged by car hire or local taxi.

Nearest Airports

Glasgow International (GLA) and Edinburgh Airport (EDI) are both approximately a 2-hour drive from the mill.

Parking & Accessibility

Free on-site parking is available for all guests. The historic mill includes ground-floor rooms and accessible pathways, though some areas retain original steep stone stairs.

Discover the Galloway Forest Park, the UK's first Dark Sky Park, or walk the scenic coastal paths of the Solway Firth. Near the Mill, a 5 minute walk will take you to the Old Mill's 30 acre woodland, meadow and loch. Guests are welcome to explore and to feel free to pursue their creative activities in this peaceful outdoor setting.

The region is home to many artists and makers. Explore Kirkcudbright, the 'Artists' Town', with its galleries and craft shops. There are also many artists studios across the whole region.
